This video compares LCD televisions to Plasma televisions. Both TV's have very good qualities but some negative sides. The Plasma television has very good picture resolution. One bad thing about Plasma is its glossy screen can sometimes have bad reflections. The LCD TV has a comparably good picture resolution as well. LCD televisions are known for being very good for playing video games. Another thing this video discussed is a new wireless television.

Exercise 15

An ecommerce business has many advantages that brick and mortal shops do not have. Electronic commerce allows people to buy and sell products over electronic systems. Your flower shop online will allow customers to order things wherever they like; at home, at work, or even out of town. Your business will grow after making it ecommerce because people all over the world can shop there and many people think it is easier. The three ecommerce I recommend are Zen Cart, osCmax, and osCommerce.

Zen Cart is an open software that I believe would benefit your flower business. It provides an easy to setup and run online store. This would be a good ecommerce business because it requires less time and management to keep up and running. Some features it provides are product attributes managers, built-in gift certificates and discount coupons, HTML editor, a template system, and "register globals off.” Zen Cart is very secure. Only your administrative personnel can access your customer and catalog data. PayPal is the system used for paying. PayPal is usually well supported by the customers. One bad thing about Zen Cart is sometimes it is not very cosmetically appealing. On the other hand it provides an opportunity for customers to write a review about their experience shopping at your business.

OsCmax is another good ecommerce business that I think would be good. It is based on osCommerce with additional functionality. It has all the features needed to run a successful Internet store and can be customized to whatever configuration you need. OsCMax is a powerful ecommerce and shopping web application. Some features it provides are a secure and stable code base, multiple payment modules, and gift vouchers and coupons. A negative thing about osCmaz is its complexity. In my opinion the simplicity in Zen Cart makes it a better choice for your new ecommerce business.

I believe OsCommerce would be the best ecommerce software for your flower business. In my opinion it combines the simplicity of Zen Cart and the positive features of osCmax. It offers a wide range of features and enables online stores to be set up fairly quickly with minimal effort. OsCommerce provides a catalogue frontend and an administration tool which can be easily installed. It runs on systems such as Apache, PHP, and MySQL. More features it includes are automatic web-based installation, multi-currency support, and it supports physical products as well as product downloads. Although this software does not have an inbuilt way to password protect the administrative area of osCommerce and the program itself is not template driven, I still believe this is the right choice.

Although I reccomend osCommerce, any of these three ecommerce softwares will positively affect your flower business. Oscommerce will enabled your business to stay open all the time and expand customers by geographically being unrestricted. After you make the switch to use osCommerce i gaurantee that your flower business will flourish.

Exercise 14

Skype Inventory:
Things that are provided in Skype that are not in cell phones is there are video capabilites in Skype. This allows you to see the person you are communicating with as opposed to just talking with them. Skype is free between other people that are using Skype, so as a result you can talk to anyone around the world that is also using Skype for free. There is a cost between other providers and Skype, however. Desktop PCs don't have a built in camera so you would need to buy a camera in order to Skype. Some Laptop PCs have built in cameras, in which case you would not have to buy a camera. Another feature available in Skype is chatting options which is much like texting through the computer. Skype also allows you to take pictures and change the features of the screen. You can manipulate the pictures that are taken. These would be considered advantages.

Advantages to Skype would be the fact that it is free between Skype users, you can see the person you are talking to, you can take pictures, and text with them all that the same time.

Disadvantages of Skype is that the quality is not as good as other technologies. Also, it is dependent on internet services so it often gets bad reception. The video freezes often as well, making it difficult to understand what the other person is saying.

Our overall impression of the software is that it is very useful and a good tool for communication, however their can be lag of service and the voice and video quality is not very good. We think it is worth investing in the Skype technology.

*We did this exercise on a PC as opposed to an iPod touch because our group did not have an iPod.

2. Last FM and we listened to Pink
3. MP3.com and we listened to Gwen Stefani

3.
The free streaming downloads were easier for our group to find than the free legal downloads. Some of the free legal downloading sites required you to have an account, like itunes. Itunes offers certain free downloads every week. Most the music downloading sites we found were not free. The streaming downloading sites on the other hand were usually free and legal. We were already familiar with Pandora and LastFM which also made it easier.

Pandora allowed you to customize what was played more because you can say what you liked or disliked in the songs that were recommended. Last FM had more of a diverse range of types of music that they said related to the specific artist. Last FM provided more than just playing music but also had comparable artist links and the different albums that the artists had. They were, overall, extremely similar and accomplish the same purpose.

Hulu

Youtube

Veoh
http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/movies_action_and_adventure/watch/v15658736qgGcPEtX

Youtube has good video quality but sometimes it depends on the video. Sometimes it would take a little while to load and I would have to wait. The good thing about Youtube is it does not have any comercials during the videos. Overall you can quickly search and watch good quality videos on Youtube. Hulu has a little better Video quality. It loaded very quickly and it allows you to pick where you want to start watching. Hulu does contain advertisement throughout the video clips. Veoh is very similar to Hulu. Its video quality might be a little better, but not by much. Veoh also contains comercials.
